Support their groove with YuMove

New research reveals how the nation’s dogs are getting their fitness fix……and it’s not all about going for walkies!

  • 86% walk at least once a day.
  • 51% play ball.
  • 39% play with other dogs.
  • 18% go swimming.
  • 12% do agility or heelwork.

TV Vet, Dr Scott Miller says keeping your dog moving is key to their long-term health and happiness, and there are lots of activities that tick the box, not just walkies!

For almost half of the nation’s dog owners (48%), making sure their dog gets the right amount of exercise every day is a top priority, according to new research commissioned by YuMOVE*.

On the flip side, 19% of owners confessed that their dog wasn’t always getting enough exercise and 15% of the owners questioned had no idea how much exercise their pet needs to stay fit and healthy.

TV Vet, Dr Scott Miller, says: “Making sure that your dog gets the recommended amount of daily exercise not only makes them happy, it’s going to help them maintain a healthy heart and joints.

“Smaller breeds may require less activity, while larger breeds may have more energy to burn off. Old dogs, young dogs and dogs with health conditions all have their own needs, so if you’re not sure, ask your vet, who will be able to assess your pet and advise. Activity means different things to different dogs, depending on breed and age, so walking for miles and miles every day isn’t necessarily a good thing.

“Walking, running, swimming, playing or diving – anything goes, so long as it keeps them moving and grooving. You just need to find what works best for your best friend. Then get out there and have fun doing it!”

Dr Scott Miller has teamed up with YuMOVE, the UK's no.1 vet-recommended joint supplement brand,1 in a nationwide hunt to find the UK’s grooviest pets and educate their owners about joint health in the process.

Introducing, YuGROOVE – THE pet contest of the summer, and one with an important health message. It’s important to support the vital grooves in and around your pet’s joints as they help keep your pet active and grooving!

In celebration of loved, active, happy pets, YuMOVE is inviting UK pet owners to show off their cats and dogs. No matter how YOUR pet likes to get their groove on, whether they love to run, jump, swim, climb or dive, simply submit a 10-15 second film of them in action at: www.yugroove.co.uk
